Michael Gustafson created the Swifty Foundation (based in Woodridge) before his death at age 15 to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research so that: "No other child will have to go through what I did." The initiatives of the Swifty Foundation include increasing tissue donations, working collaboratively with researchers, other funders, health care and families and funding research to improve outcomes for children with recurrent medulloblastoma. The Swifty Foundation has funded the role of Tissue Navigator to educate patients, families and staff about the value of tissue donation and assist with the logistics of donating. Lurie Children's Hospital is one of the sites that is a part of the program. All administrative expenses of the foundation are paid by the Gustafson family so 100 percent of every donation supports the mission.https://www.swiftyfoundation.org/
As always, thank you for caring
