The chosen charity was a local Downers Grove Family that is facing a difficult future, the Scoggins family. Molly is a beloved local mom, wife to Jon—a dedicated special education teacher at O'Neill and former co-owner of Mojo's East Coast Eats, a cherished local restaurant known for its incredible generosity and community support. Together, they have two amazing children: Flynn, a senior at DGS, and Georgia, an 8th grader at O'Neill who will soon be a freshman at DGS. For years, the family has been a pillar of the community, always giving back without hesitation. Now, it's our turn to support them through this unimaginable journey and show them the same love and kindness they’ve always shared with others.
Molly has spent the last six years quietly battling the long-term effects of radiation from Hodgkin’s Disease, which she bravely faced at just 19. What started as breast cancer in 2019 led to radiation heart disease and open-heart surgery in 2023. Then, in September, came the most devastating news: a diagnosis of Stage IV Radiation-Induced Lung Cancer—a heartbreaking blow for someone who has never smoked.
Through it all, Molly has shown extraordinary strength, resilience, and a spirit that refuses to dim. Her infectious laugh and sharp wit have remained constant, even in the toughest moments. But this is the hardest chapter yet. With an indefinite treatment plan of chemotherapy and immunotherapy, Molly has had to step away from work, creating a heavy financial strain for her family.
Molly is the heart of her family. She and her husband, Jon, have always poured their love and energy into raising their two wonderful children and being active in their community. But this diagnosis has left them facing not only emotional challenges but mounting medical expenses and household costs as they fight to maintain a sense of stability and build precious memories together.
Our support will bring much-needed relief to cover medical expenses, household bills, and give Molly and her family the space to focus on what truly matters—each other.
Molly has spent her life bringing light to others. Now it’s our turn to surround her and her family with love, comfort, and strength as they navigate this unimaginable journey.
The Mandros Family Foundation (a local 501(c)3) has graciously agreed accept the donations on behalf of the Scoggins Family so our members can get the benefit of a tax deduction.
